A blog about a job. A real job. Not one of those fancy jobs where people are happy. Not one of those fancy jobs that people like. This is an office job. A generic office job where no one matters and no one cares.

People on the Retirement Track

So, I have realized I am not on the same level as some of the older guys on the retirement track. They take slacking to a whole new level. I have been following my plan exactly. Missing meetings, pushing deadlines, going for coffee all the time; but I am not even competing with these guys.

Here is their layoff plan:

1) Flat out decline any meeting request

2) Make all deadlines 2+ years long

3) Be disrespectful to everyone

4) Call everyone else in the company “inexperienced idiots”

5) Refuse to learn ANYTHING new

And the coup de grace..

6) Spend at least 3 hours a day napping in the office

They have the corporate version of tenure, or so it would seem. How can anyone honestly sleep for 3 hours a day at work and NOT get fired? They are just counting down the days until they can retire. They don’t care about anything. If they get laid off, they are just 1 step closer to retirement. 1 PAID step closer to retirement.

How much bad press would you get for firing those types of people. I would have to assume sleeping at work is a fireable offense. I might have to step up my game if I want to be laid off.
